As part of my job as a PR guy is to make apperances at radio stations throughout the year to promote events, offers, etc for the golf courses I represent. Tomorrow I am heading to my favorite radio show, not on satallite, Preston & Steve Morning Show on WMMR. I am making my annual holiday visit and I'll be delivering some Deerfield, Hartefeld and Inniscrone gear to Preston, Steve, Casey and Kathy. I will also be brining along with me some McFarlane action figures from the LOST television show. The guys are HUGE fans of the toys and the show, so it'll be my pleasure to stop by with some fun gifts the the show. My hope is that since it's so close to vacation they will throw us on the air. While on air, I will have the golf pro Chris Boos talk about Deerfield's new membership offerings. So you see, I have a whole strategy. I will be in there around 8-8:30, so listen in...

Here's a pic of Kris and I at the Philadelphia "Rocky Balboa" premier. I picked her up from CHOP and he headed downtown to the Prince Music Theatre. I was told by my buddy Paddy Mac to get there around 6:30 p.m. He had warned me prior the event was being hadled poorly and he'd put me on the list, but warned us that there may be some hiccups.
Hiccups there were. Of course, our names were not on the list. Minor issue. The nice lady at the will call table told us to stand off to the side and she'd get us in at 7pm. When you're hungry, 30 minutes standing outside can seem like a long time. Kris was getting a tad perturbed, but 7pm came, they gave us our tickets (which were pretty good).
We ended up sitting between three people who were in the film, Burt Young (Uncle Paulie) Max Kellerman (Max Kellerman) and Geraldine Hughes (little Marie). The movie was solid - obviously, not the best Rocky by any stretch, but solid none the less.
Kris was really into it, which she let the CBS3 cameras know about it, when they interviewed us on our way out. Kris was a little disapointed to watch the news that night only to find out they had cut our interview from the segment. Oh well! Guess she'll have to wait until the next premier.

Forgot to put up this little image. It was taken last month in early November at a celebrity golf outing down in Joppa, MD at one of my clients, Mountain Branch Golf Club. My job was to roll around and thrown Mountain Branch gear on celebs and get some quality images of them wearing it. Needless to say, LT was the MOST intimidating person I have ever run into. He was the biggest celeb there, so it was key I get to know him. He was pretty cool and rocked the hat all day we got some good shots of him wearing the gear. The best part was that he was rocking the lid two days later in the finals which was broadcast regionally. After just about everything I had heard about him, he was a pretty good dude.

OULETTE, Ken (2004-2006) Global Spectrum Obituary
Oh Ken, we hardly knew ye. You can hear the screeching tires turning off of north Broad street as this is being written. You came into some of our lives like a cool New England autumn breeze, with the leaves rustling in the distance. Just as quickly and quietly you came into our Global lives, you left us.
You were toiling away at the Whittemore Center in New Hampshire with one event per year, not counting hockey games, minding your own business. Not too many of us had heard of you, let alone tried to pronounce your name.
I first met you at the annual 2005 “Annual Global Spectrum Retards Meeting”, the yearly gathering for newbies or for marketing people who just didn’t have a clue (like myself). We spent quality time with the “studly” Chad Baranksy, the very pregnant Liz Garcia (The Bud Center), Kelly David and the cool chick from Richmond who I can’t seem to recall her name (Shameka, maybe?), but it’s not important. That week, we bonded over crab fries and towers of beer at Chickies & Petes, where he had to watch what we said since Ike was always around, and rides from the Holiday Inn on Pattison to the Wachovia Center. It’s here where I started espousing my views on the company, where we were all heading (and it wasn’t upward bound). We talked about psycho Asst. GMs who banged box office managers, GMs who got canned because of fabricated from trumped up sexual harassment cases and other great, positive stories of folks who were forced out of their “COMFORT ZONE” and then forced into quitting. Who knew you would be next?
You called me when the “opportunity” came up to work at the Liacouras Center. I didn’t want to sound like a "hater", but I know how I can come off. I am sorry for not keeping it more real. The first person to hear about the move may or may not have been newly named Liacouras Center general manager Fran Rodowicz. He may have found out through a voicemail you left him while he was on his honeymoon.
We’re really not sure what caused the sudden departure. It could have been the complete culture shock of moving from New Hampshire to North Philly, it could have been My Little Pony and the constant questioning from Bob Schwartz and his continually throwing people under the bus that made you want to leave. It could have been the most recent event event; Mayor Street’s truancy hearing held at the Liacouras Center that turned into a near-riot. Or it could have just been the proximity of Chris Rumer. Who knows? I think it’s the latter.
Ken, I knew first hand how hard this job was/is. You didn’t have the following luxuries: being close to home, having a Playstation in your office, having free lunch provided by the next door bar, the Draft Horse, any good events (I at least had Kanye West and the Moscow State Cirucs), having your asst. ops manager bootleg any movie or CD or game you wanted, not having a GM for six months while you were there and then having a GM who thought your we cool for the last two months. There are a lot of factors/non-factors that went into your decision.
Ken, I never partied with you at a Global Meeting, at an EAMC conference, but the small time we spent on the phone, on IM, working Temple football games or otherwise, I could tell you were a winner. Also, congratulations on the sheer timing. Two weeks before Christmas, four games into the basketball season. You truly are a brilliant marketer, of yourself.
We know you’ll be looking down upon us from wherever you are.

So I think now I am just recovering from my late night of at Lincoln Financial Field, where I sat in the press box and watched the wounded yet still fighting Birds pull off a nice win due to solid play by backup QB Jeff Garcia and decent defensive play by the secondary. Of course, we'd be remiss not to mention Jake Delhomme tossing a few ill advised passes in the wrong direction.
While at the game, I happened to run into Philly's favorite adopted son, Sly Stallone, who during his TV interview with ESPN mentioned how much he was on the Tony Romo bandwagon. All I can say is, watch yourself, Sly, it's a long drop off the wagon! He was a nice enough guy, was in a bit of a hurry to catch a flight and while he was in the press box, quite a few folks had gathered around him to sniff a piece of Hollywood. He signed autographs and posed for a few pics. This one taken by agent Jerrold Colton. Thanks JC!

Cheesy Philadelphia
Our city’s overflowing with the lame, the dumb, the old, the weird, the insufferable and the downright bloody wrong. And it’s all right here.
It’s like Vegas in our heads, man, 24/7. CONTD...
You know how thrilled we are that My Little Pony Live is coming to the Liacouras Center on Thursday? We’re so excited we’re pissing lemonade. We’re talking “teapots and rainbows, castles and unicorns.” Damn straight, we’re excited.
We’ve barely recovered from Gretchen Wilson’s Country on Ice at the Wachovia Center. Hell, anything “on ice” is cheesy. But Country on Ice? So soon after the Philadelphia Rodeo with its “mutton bustin’” sheep-wrangling competition for kids? It’s like the city’s getting a hand job from God.
And here’s the weird thing: Country on Ice was in Philadelphia exclusively. If that doesn’t officially make us the cheesiest city on the planet, I’m a Dutchman with two dicks and a pet lizard named Tony.

Yesterday's Eagles game...
Still NOTHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT... in fact, I would say something to get a little nervous about. Sure the score looked impressive, but bear in mind, the offense managed to manufacture ONE legit touchdown (84 yd. pass to Stallworth). The other TDs (Brown to Buckhalter fumble and Sheldon's return of the INT for TD) were flukes. The one thing I can say is the defense is playing very WELL... people who say, why no sacks? Don't forget about the 1 int. grounding and the one VERY close to INT grounding. The special teams are also playing well (reno w. 2 nice returns and Akers, money as usual).
Dirk is the one thing bothering me... he got one punt downed on the 1 yd. line, but that's it. One more shank and it could be all over for that cat. Haven't even read the reviews of the game from the Inky or Daily. Need to check them out.

Booked my fliz-ight...
For my buddy Joey The K's bachelor party. The weekend is March 1-4. Plenty of golf, beers, and Y Bor City. Perhaps you've heard of a little place in Florida called Tampa?
We are looking at some spring training action along with a little of Whiskey Joes.
So far, as I have heard, the included parties are Me, Joe, Dev, Kush and Strong Man. A crew that resembled a group the last time this crew rolled down to the Sunshine State. Ft. Myers to be exact. Alex's Cantina, that was the place. Right on the beach. Couldn't get any better than that. Joe was playing in the Red Sox organization, so that's what called for the visit. One stop at Siesta Key beach (whitest sand you'll see in the the cont. states).
I'm a little nervous re: the accomidations. Joe has a tendancy to let things fall through the crax. I.e. Vegas 5 years ago... he was the tour coordinator. We showed up for our flight back to Philly exactly 24 hours too late. I begged and pleaded with the lady at the counter and she let me on the next flight... obviously pre-9/11. Couldn't get away with that now!

So now I'm on the lookout for total scams in the job market. These came to my attention after helping a friend of mine locate jobs. A bunch of these kept popping up... my advice to anyone who sees these... STAY AWAY

Tuesday night...
A big night for us. We booked an apperance with Cingular Wireless with Correll Buckhalter. Over 150 showed up to the Concord Mall in Wilmington, DE to meet Buck, get their picture taken with him and have him signed autographs. He showed up a bit late, but when he got there, he was his usuall brilliant smiling self. When he first got there, he headed up to Cafe Rivera to meet and greet some VIPs at Cingular. After that, he was welcomed into the general concourse of the mall to the E-A-G-L-E-S chants and applause. It was a great night. I'm sure someone has pics, unfortunately, I don't since I had to handle the biz-nass.

BODOG WEEKLY ROUNDUP...
Ended up 4-2-1 on the weekend. Won the ½ spread on the Temple game, lost the VA Tech game (thanks for showing up, Hokies – YOU SUCK!), FSU over DUKE (how the hell did Duke score 24?????), RUTGERS over NAVY (sorry about your QB Middies), the UNDER in the NYG/ATL game (41.5 was the under, 41 was the total – I heard this listening to Eskin and it caught my ear), LOST the PHIL/NO game…okay, all the signs were there to NOT pick the Eagles, and I did anyway. This is NOT a good sign for them, NOT AT ALL. Poor errors, stupid mistakes, etc. Champs don’t make these kinds of mistakes. And I pushed the MIA/NYJ… didn’t think Harrington could score 10 points in any amount of time.

THURSDAY
I got the weekend cracked open Thursday night checking out a show at World Café Live, right off the campus of UPenn. We checked out Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers. We had a nice little group of us hit the show including my wife Kris, my buddy Trip from the Wachovia Center and his wife and my friend Megan and her friend Katelyn. My old boss Neil is the GM there, so he hooked us up with some cocktails and some private upper level seats. If you ever check out a show there, ask is if the balcony is open. A couple of notable no-shows, my buddy Devo, who owns his own business couldn’t make it since he had deliveries (kegs, etc) and my buddy AJ and his girl Heather. Not terribly disappointed they didn’t make it. All good. Great show, great set list, great venue. The only this was that I had a ticket on my windshield when I came out. Booo Philadelphia Parking Authority!!!!!
FRIDAY DAY
I was supposed to meet the band Rascal Flats to play a round of golf at Hartefeld. Hartefeld is one of my clients and it would have been good if we could have gotten some celebs out there to play the course and get a buzz. I show up at the course and minutes later, I get an email/phone call saying the band got a late start and wouldn’t be able to make it. Oh well, no worries. I joined a twosome and playing a round with the Brothers Murphy. I shot pretty well, breaking a 100 at the tough course, which I was happy about. I stopped home for a quick change and to pick up my credentials
FRIDAY NIGHT
Was supposed to coordinate a meet and greet with Rascal Flats and the Reid family. Everyone was there… except for Andy. Oh well. They showed up a couple of people short, so I was able to squeeze in Carol Wilson, her husband and their daughter Kaitlynn, into the meet and greet. All went well, spent some quality time with EFC big-wigs Larry Magid, Geoff Gordon and Michael Lessner. Look for some notes on the evening in Dan Gross’ column this week in the Daily News.

The rest of the weekend wrapped up pretty succinctly. I was supposed to play golf at 8, but couldn’t pry myself out of bed. Ran errands until about 2p when I decided to watch my college picks unfold (to my delight). Sunday was the same thing, but waiting for NFL to come on to torture me with the worst ½ of football the Eagles have played this season.

Check out my man, Ashy... um I mean Darnell Rawlins... co-host of the final three Chappelle shows... played two of the funniest characters on the show... Ashy Larry and of course, "The Mummy" who was constantly late for his meetings with his parole officer. We played about 8 holes and then were joined by someone calling himself "Uncle Luke." Yeah, Luke Skywalker, year, Luther Cambell. AWESOME DUDES.

So here's just a smattering... a sampling if you will of what we will bringing you hopefully on a weekly basis. I know, the pic SUCKS. This happened about a month or so ago... My man JT... he was in the middle of brining sexy back, but before he popped out on stage at the Electric Factory, Northern Liberties in Philly, I hooked him up with some sweet golf gear from Hartefeld National. JT is a big time golfer and he was loving that stuff. His security guard was NOT loving it and wanted to know how I got in there and BLAH BLAH, and JT said, I invited him and now take the pic. The pic is blurry because the meathead security guard can't take a pic. Okay, I messed with the settings during sound check and never fixed them. Totally my bad.
Welcome, people
Welcome to DE-Lebrity... Delaware's connection to the celebrity world of Philly, NY and the world. The spot is run by PHILLY/DEL/NJ PR maven who seems to be at all the right places at all the right times...I constantly get... "I need..." "Can you get..." the answer... USUALLY, yes and yes. I do what the kids in Norfilly call... "hookin it up."
This little spot will detail my past, present and future interactions, meetings and run-ins with anyone of note... most of these deTALES will take place in Philly, where I have spent my formative years, running in the quasi-famous circles, hitting the right bars, fine dining establishments, and entertainment facilities with them.
When local celebs want/need something... reservations, exclusive meet and greets with Beyonce or the Wiggles, they call me... ever read Malcom Gladwell's The Tipping Point? Of course you have... I am "The Connector."Anyway, should be a good weekend, starting off with tonights trip to World Cafe live to check out Stephen Kellogg, a good friend of mine and one of the firercest singer/songwriter/guitarist out there. Check him out at http://www.stephenkellogg.com/. Of course, we don't pay. Included guests will be the wife, my boy Devo, Mr. Black and his lovely Mrs. (also from the first state) and possibly AJ "ACE" Feeley.
Tomorrow we'll hit up Hartefeld Golf Course tomorrow with one of the hottest bands not just in county music but in music in general, Rascal Flats and their crew. Then onto The Wachovia Center for an exclusive meet and greet with the big man, "Big Red" Andy Reid and his family. Check back, we'll have pics and comments from the man who's leading the birds to Miami, FL in a few months.
